Case Study: Oak Park Estates
Brand Storytelling, Website & Community Marketing
Developed by Vortex Digital, Inc.
Overview
Oak Park Estates is a family-owned assisted living and memory care community in Cedar Falls, Iowa, built around a simple belief: residents deserve to be known, loved, and treated like family. Designed as an intimate, home-like environment, Oak Park focuses on personalized care, meaningful routines, and daily moments that bring comfort and dignity to residents living with memory loss.
Vortex partnered with Oak Park Estates to clarify and express this philosophy through cohesive branding, a welcoming website, and community-focused marketing materials that reflect the warmth of life inside the residence.
A Different Starting Point
Oak Park Estates was never meant to feel clinical. From its physical layout — short hallways, shared spaces, and one-building design — to its approach to staffing and care, everything about Oak Park was created to feel personal and familiar.
The story behind the community matters. Founder Luke Moore’s own experiences in medical settings shaped a clear goal: residents should never feel like a number. That conviction became the emotional anchor for how Oak Park communicates who they are and why they exist.

The Challenge
Oak Park already had heart. What they needed was clarity.
The challenge was translating deeply personal care into a digital and print presence that felt equally human. Families researching memory care are often overwhelmed, emotional, and short on time. The brand needed to reassure without overselling, inform without overwhelming, and create trust quickly.
At the same time, Oak Park required marketing tools that worked across real-world touchpoints, tours, referrals, events, and community outreach, not just online.
The Approach
Rather than leading with amenities or capacity, Vortex focused on experience. The strategy centered on helping families understand what daily life feels like at Oak Park Estates.
We emphasized:
- A warm, welcoming tone rooted in real stories and real people
- Visual storytelling that reflects daily life, not stock imagery
- Clear, compassionate language around memory care and routines
- Consistent messaging across website, print, and in-community materials
The goal was to make Oak Park feel familiar before a family ever walks through the door.

The Execution
Vortex designed and refined the Oak Park Estates website to serve as both an introduction and a reassurance — simple to navigate, emotionally grounded, and easy to understand. Content was organized around what families care about most: safety, dignity, routine, and connection.
Supporting marketing materials, including rack cards, folders, and print pieces, were developed to match the same tone and visual language, ensuring a consistent experience whether families encountered Oak Park online or in person.
Photography and messaging highlight real residents, shared meals, daily activities, and staff interactions, reinforcing the idea that Oak Park is not just a facility, but a home.

The Result
Oak Park Estates now presents a clear, unified story across all touchpoints — one that reflects who they truly are. Families encounter a brand that feels calm, compassionate, and trustworthy, while internal teams have marketing tools that support tours, referrals, and ongoing community engagement.
The brand no longer explains itself. It feels understood.

Takeaway
Strong care communities aren’t defined by square footage or services alone. They’re defined by how people feel when they walk in — and how confident families feel when they trust someone else with their loved one’s care.
Oak Park Estates tells that story clearly now.

We hired Jonathan and Team Vortex to design our new website. From start-to-finish they were nothing short of outstanding.
Anyone who has been involved in a website redesign / development project knows it can be a daunting task. However, Jonathan and his team ensured the process went as smoothly as possible. They answered my questions in a timely manner, gave great feedback on the ideas I presented to them, and delivered exactly what we needed in a new website. We also hired Jonathan to take our corporate portraits for the website and they couldn’t have turned out any better.
It was a pleasure working with Jonathan, Lizzie, Cody, Justin, Melinda, and everyone at Team Vortex. I would highly recommend their services to anyone in need.
